Finding Clarity in a Cancer Diagnosis

2020 was a challenging year for most of us. But for KaCarole Higgins, it was one of cancer diagnosis, as well as clarity. After discovering a lump in her breast on self-examination, Ka went on a journey of healing, reconnection and new beginnings. Her sister Beth has been working at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center for 17 years, and she knew that was where she should receive treatment. She moved in with her sister, repaired her complicated relationship with her daughter and made new and lasting friendships with fellow cancer patients and new neighbors she met along the way. The community she has cultivated in Nashville on her cancer treatment journey has helped Ka improve her overall wellness.
